Commercial production of the vaccine is expected at Shanta Biotechnics, Hyderabad. Sanofi acquired Shanta Biotechnics in 2009. E Limited of Hyderabad has entered into an agreement with Bayor College of Medicine in Texas for the development of the vaccine, while Johnson & Johnson has entered into an agreement for the production of the vaccine. Bharat Immunological Limited has a capacity to manufacture around 20 million vaccines and is ready to manufacture vaccines based on orders. The company is said to be in talks for commercial production of the Russian vaccine Sputnik-5. A company called Aravana Pharma also became involved in the manufacture of the Corona vaccine. It has tied up with an American company involved in research and claims to be equipped with vaccine production capacity by March 2021.

Pune's serum can produce more than one and a half billion doses: 

The Serum Institute of Pune is the world's largest vaccine manufacturer. It produces vaccines for diseases like polio, diphtheria, tetanus, BCG, hepatitis-B etc. The company can produce 1.5 billion vaccines annually. It has agreements with five companies in the world to produce the Corona vaccine. They also include AstraZeneca and Novavex. Serum Institute, together with these companies, has promised to make one billion doses in India and give 50 percent. The company may also contract for the production of the Russian vaccine Sputnik-5.
